QUEBEC PUBLISHES AN EXCELLENT BROCHURE ON CFS

L’Institut National d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS), a Government of Quebec agency, has recently published the french version of an excellent brochure about Chronic fatigue syndrome : « Syndrome de fatigue chronique ». The brochure is addressed primarily to those who support ME/CFS patients and all others who wish to know more about the illness and its related problems. An English version will be available on INESSS website on the first week of September and the paper version, in time for the IASCFSME Conference which will be held in Ottawa, September 22-25.
The brochure is based on the report of a study conducted by the Agence d’évaluation des technologies et des modes d’intervention en santé (AETMIS, now replaced by INESSS), published in June 2010. The study was requested by the Quebec ME Association (AQEM) in 2007 and was launched in 2008. During the study, many patients with ME/CFS were interviewed providing information and moving testimonies about the illness and related problems. The Quebec ME Association (AQEM) was invited to review the brochure’s content and suggested a number of changes which have all been accepted.

Une excellente brochure sur le SFC publiée au Québec.
L’Institut National d’excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS), agence du Gouvernement du Québec, vient de rendre publique la version française d’une excellente brochure sur le « Syndrome de fatigue chronique ». Celle-ci s’adresse principalement à l’entourage des personnes atteintes de l’EM/SFC et à tous ceux qui veulent en savoir plus sur cette maladie et les problèmes qui y sont reliés. La version anglaise sera disponible sur le site Internet de l’INESSS dès la première semaine de septembre et, en version papier, en temps pour la Conférence de l’IACFSME qui aura lieu à Ottawa du 22 au 25 septembre prochain.
Cette brochure fait suite au rapport d’une étude entreprise par l’Agence d’évaluation des technologies et des modes d’intervention en santé (AETMIS, remplacée depuis par l’INESSS) publié en juin 2010. L’étude avait été demandée au ministre de la Santé par l’Association québécoise de l’encéphalomyélite myalgique (AQEM) en 2007. Elle a débuté en 2008. Au cours de cette étude, on a recueilli plusieurs renseignements et témoignages auprès de personnes atteintes de l’EM/SFC. L’AQEM a été invitée à réviser la brochure avant sa publication et a suggéré un certain nombre de changements qui ont tous été acceptés.
