News - NETWORK NEWS
Every year at this time, the Government of Canada asks Canadians what they would like to see in the next federal budget.
The National ME/FM Action Network would like to see the government allocate money to build research, services and awareness around ME. We would then like to see the initiatives expanded to Fibromyalgia as quickly as possible.
The government won't allocate the money unless our elected representatives know that there is support for this idea. You have the opportunity to tell them that this is important. Email is good, but sending them a letter by regular mail is even better.
Here is how to go about it.
Print three copies of the submission. One copy is for the Minister of Health, one copy is for the Minister of Finance and one copy is for your local Member of Parliament (MP).
English: PreBudget-2019-20-ME-FM.pdf
French: PreBudget-2019-20-ME-FM-fr.pdf
Address three envelopes (see below)
Add a personal note to each copy of the submission, either on the back or on separate piece of paper. You can start with “This is important to me because...” or “Please fund this proposal because...”
Sign each letter with your name and address.
Insert the letters in the envelopes and drop them in the mail. No stamp is required if mailed in Canada.
In addition,
Encourage your family and friends to support this proposal as well. The more letters the better! Again, email are good but hardcopy letters are even better.
If you can, offer to talk or meet with your MP. Some MP's will hold pre-budget consultation meetings which is an opportunity to raise the need for ME funding.
Please let us know what your Member of Parliament says.
Thank you! Merci!
